Festivals and celebrations have always dominated the heritage of Indian culture. From Diwali to Holi, all the festivals are celebrated with great pomp. Holi festival is also coming very soon. On this festival celebrated every year on the full moon day of the month of Phalgun, the echo of ‘Bura Na Mano Holi Hai’ is heard in every city, nook and every street in most of the states. People form groups and apply colors to each other on the streets and celebrate Holi by dancing to the beats of drums. But do you know that there are some states or cities in our country where the festival of Holi is not celebrated at all. Let us tell you today about those places where the festival of Holi is not celebrated.

In these places the festival of Holi is not celebrated:

Kasmar village, Jharkhand

Kasmar is a village in Kasmar CD block in Bermo subdivision of Bokaro district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Holi is not celebrated in this village not from today but for many years. People here believe that about 100 years ago, a daughter of a king died on the day of Holi. The king also died after this incident. The people there believe that before his death the king had told the people not to celebrate Holi. Since then Holi is not celebrated here

Uttarakhand

Holi festival has not been celebrated for the last three hundred years in Kurjhan, Quili and Jaudla villages located in Uttarakhand. The reason behind not celebrating Holi in this village is very interesting. According to folklore, these three villages are protected by Tripura Devi. People here believe that Tripura Devi does not like noise, hence Holi is not celebrated in these three villages.

Ramsan village, Gujarat

Even in Ramsan village located in Banaskantha district of Gujarat, people do not play Holi. Holi festival has not been celebrated here for the last 200 years. The villagers believe that this village has been cursed by some saints. That is why people are not able to celebrate the festival of Holi here even if they want to.

Tamil Nadu, South India

Holi is not played in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. It is said that on the day of Holi, people here celebrate the local festival Masi Magam instead of Holi. But they have nothing to do with the festival of Holi.
