The Indian women’s cricket team, despite winning the first match of the three-match T20 series against Australia, lost it 2-1. After this shameful performance of the team, captain Harmanpreet Kaur in her statement highlighted two major shortcomings which will now be given maximum attention. In the last match of this series, Team India had scored 147 runs, which was chased by the Australian women’s team at the loss of only 3 wickets in 18.4 overs. Out of three ODI and three T20 matches, the Indian women’s team managed to win only one match and had to face defeat in 5.

The team needs to pay maximum attention to fitness and fielding.

In this series against the Australian women’s team, very poor fielding was seen from the Indian women’s team. Apart from this, the fitness of many players also did not appear as expected. On all this, captain Harmanpreet Kaur said after the defeat in the third match that we had performed well in the Test but the Australian team played much better than us in the limited overs format. In Tests we know we have time to strategize and analyse, but in ODIs and T20s we have to be prepared for it in advance. We will now pay special attention to all these things, apart from this fitness and fielding are also a matter of concern for the team. Our fielding was much better in the first T20 and due to this we managed to perform well in that match but in the remaining 2 matches we were not able to field at that level at all. We will now focus on all these things during this break. I am proud of my team.

We will have to pay attention to DRS also

While women’s team head coach Amol Majumdar also gave a statement regarding fitness and poor fielding after the series defeat, he also mentioned the wrong DRS of the team in his statement. Majumdar said that what we need to focus on the most now is fitness, fielding and DRS. Along with getting used to it, we also need to continuously improve it. I have already said that this can prove to be a game changer and WPL should get used to it.
