The first match of the 5-match Test series between India and England is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. In this match, England decided to bat first after winning the toss and at the end of the game at lunch, they had scored 108 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. Indian team’s star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin accomplished a big feat in the very first session in which he has now become the third bowler in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC) to take 150 or more wickets.

Became the first bowler to achieve this feat for India

Ravichandran Ashwin had taken 148 wickets in the history of the World Test Championship before the start of the Hyderabad Test match. In this Test, he was the first victim of England’s first innings by dismissing Ben Dukett LBW and also gave the team its first success. Ashwin completed his 150th wicket in the history of WTC by taking the second wicket of Jack Crowley. So far, Ashwin has played 31 matches in the history of the World Test Championship and taken wickets at an average of 26.06. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon are at the first place in this list, in which both have taken 169-169 wickets. Ashwin has also become the first player from the Indian team to achieve such a feat in the history of WTC. From India, after Ashwin, the second highest wicket taker in the history of WTC is Jasprit Bumrah, who has taken 91 wickets in his name so far.

Ashwin close to completing 500 test wickets

In the history of Test cricket, Ashwin has so far taken 492 wickets in his name, in which he is now just 8 steps away from achieving 500 wickets. Ashwin is currently at 8th position in terms of taking most Test wickets and once he crosses the mark of 500 wickets, he will become the eighth and fourth spin bowler in world cricket to do so.
