South Africa’s star batsman Dean Elgar took retirement from Test cricket after the Test series against India. In his last test match, the South African team had to face defeat against India by 7 wickets. But the series was tied at 1-1. Elgar had won many matches for the African team on his own. Now Elgar has decided to play for another team in county cricket.

Elgar joined this team in the county

Former South African batsman Dean Elgar has signed a three-year deal with Essex ahead of the 2024 county season. The 36-year-old Elgar is very happy to join Essex. “I am thrilled to start this new chapter of my cricket journey with Essex,” Elgar was quoted as saying. The club has been striving for respectability in recent years and I look forward to contributing to further success. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my previous experiences in county cricket and I am really looking forward to joining the team ahead of the season,” he said.

The coach said this

Essex head coach Anthony McGrath welcomed Elgar. McGrath was quoted as saying that Dean brings with him a wealth of talent and experience that will undoubtedly strengthen our team for the 2024 season. McGrath said he has had a brilliant career in Test cricket and has demonstrated to the world his desire to score runs at the highest level by the time he retires. His achievements at international level speak volumes for his abilities and we are excited to see the impact he can have at Essex.
