The fifth and decisive match of the five-match T20 series between West Indies and England was played in Trinidad. West Indies team won this match by 4 wickets and won the series. However, during this period an English batsman made a big record. Till date no batsman has made such a record. This T20 series against West Indies was memorable for that batsman. He performed brilliantly in this entire series. This player is none other than England’s star batsman Phil Salt.

broke a big record

England batsman Phil Salt registered some big records in his name in this five-match series. Phil Salt recently became the second player among ICC full members to score two consecutive centuries in T20Is. He achieved this feat in the fourth T20I when he scored 119 runs in 57 balls, which was the highest score by an England batsman in T20Is. Despite scoring only 38 runs in the fifth T20 match, he has now broken an old record of Pakistan star Mohammad Rizwan.

Salt has broken the record of scoring most runs by a player in a T20I series. Before the last T20 match, he had 293 runs in his name and in the 20 over series, Rizwan had 316 runs in his name. To break this record, 24 runs were needed. And despite scoring only 38 runs, the wicketkeeper surpassed batsman Mohammad Rizwan in this matter.

Most runs scored in a T20I series

  1. Phil Salt: 331 runs
  2. Mohammad Rizwan: 316 runs
  3. Mark Chapman: 290 runs
  4. Babar Azam: 285 runs
  5. Quinton de Kock: 255 runs

No one gave any price in IPL

Salt was recently ignored in the IPL Auction 2024. He could not find any buyer. Salt’s base price was Rs 1.5 crore but none of the 10 franchises in the mini-auction took interest in him. The 27-year-old player was a part of Delhi Capitals in the 2023 season and performed well. He scored 218 runs in 9 innings at an average of 27.25 and strike rate of 163.91. After not being selected in the IPL, Salt said that I was hoping that after going there last year and performing well, I would be picked, but these things happen. This is part of the lottery of the auction. There are some lads in our dressing room who are going to have a great Christmas and I’m very happy for them.
