Pakistan vs Australia: The Australian team defeated Pakistan by 360 runs in the first test match. With this, the Australian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. But now due to a special reason ICC has taken action against Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja and has strongly reprimanded him.
Usman Khawaja wore black band
Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has been reprimanded by the ICC for protesting against wearing an armband during the first Test. Opening batsman Usman wore a black armband during the match in Perth. Earlier ICC had banned his shoes. The 36-year-old criticized the ICC for originally censoring him and vowed to continue promoting messages of support for civilians in Gaza.
ICC reprimanded
Usman Khawaja had written messages like ‘Freedom is a human right’ and ‘Life is equal for all’ on his shoes. However, citing rules prohibiting the display of personal messages related to politics, religion or ethnicity, the ICC warned him that he would face sanctions if he wore the shoes during the match. After this, messages were covered with tape on his shoes during the match but Khawaja made a statement by wearing a black band around his left hand. This move has led to a reprimand from the ICC for the first breach of the rules.
An ICC spokesperson said Usman Khawaja has been charged with breaching Section F of the clothing and equipment rules. Khawaja had earlier released a video in which he defended his right to speak for those who are not given the opportunity to express their views and emphasized the equality of all lives.
