ICC has taken a big decision amid the ODI World Cup. They have canceled the membership of a neighboring country of India. Due to this, now this team will not be able to play even a single international match. This country banned by ICC is none other than Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Cricket’s membership was canceled on Friday due to violation of ICC rules. It was found in the ICC meeting that the government of Sri Lanka is interfering in the Cricket Board. Which is against ICC rules. In such a situation, ICC had to take this big step.

ICC said this

Due to Sri Lanka’s poor performance in the current ODI World Cup, there have been many changes in the country’s cricket board. After the team’s return home on Friday, ICC had to cancel the membership of Sri Lanka Cricket Board due to government interference. The ICC met today and decided that Sri Lanka Cricket was in breach of its responsibilities as a member, the ICC said in a statement. He further said that the Board is not able to stop government interference in its affairs. The terms of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course.

ICC will take decision in the next meeting

According to reports, the ICC has already informed Sri Lanka Cricket about its decision and has decided to take the next step during its meeting on November 21. Sri Lanka will not be able to participate in any ICC tournaments and play bilateral series during its suspension. They are scheduled to host the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 in January and February, so the ICC Board will consider the terms of the suspension at its next meeting.
