Coach Dravid’s big statement on the pitch of the first test
India vs England 1st Test: The first match of the 5-match Test series between India and England is to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. This match will start from 25th January. Before the Hyderabad Test match, Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid held a press conference. During this, Rahul Dravid gave a big update on the pitch of the first test match.
What kind of pitch will Hyderabad have?
Head coach Rahul Dravid gave a mild warning to the England camp, saying that the pitch will help the spinners as the game progresses in the initial match. Two days before the Test match, the pitch looked quite dry, especially around the good length areas at both ends. Dravid said in the press conference that it is difficult to say anything about the pitch right now. We will know about it when the match starts. This pitch is looking good from what I have seen. However, the spinners will get turn from the pitch. I can’t say anything right now about how soon or how fast. The ball will definitely get more turn as the game progresses.
There was discussion about the pitch in the England camp also
On the other hand, England fast bowler Mark Wood admitted that his team has also discussed about the pitch. He said that we have discussed the pitch. We are not too worried about it. There is so much confidence in our team that we can do something special. We have spinners, we have fast bowlers, we have good batsmen and our performance in recent times has been very good.
Wood further said that we will adapt ourselves to these pitches. We have a captain who always thinks of taking the match forward. In such a situation, this will be an entertaining series. However, it will not be so easy for the England batsmen. An official of Hyderabad Cricket Association told PTI on the condition of confidentiality that we have full time to prepare the pitch. This will help both batsmen and bowlers, but this will change as the match progresses. I think the players have enough experience to adapt themselves to these conditions.
