The first day of the Test match being played in Ranchi was in the name of England batsman Joe Root. Joe Root returned to the pavilion with an unbeaten century on the first day of the fourth Test match. He was batting well on the second day also. He remained not out from one end, but no player could do anything special from the other end. Root scored a total of 122 runs in this match. This innings was very important for him. Runs were not coming from his bat for a long time. Root also hit 10 fours during his innings.
