Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav
The Indian team has to play the first T20 match on the South Africa tour on December 10 at the Durban ground of Kingsmead. Before this match, Team India has suffered a big blow in the form of fast bowler Suryakumar Yadav, who has not been able to join the team till now due to personal reasons. Team India’s team had reached South Africa on 6 December to participate in this series, but at that time Deepak did not go with the team. Now it seems almost impossible for him to play in the first T20 match of the series.
Deepak did not join the team due to serious illness of a family member.
Deepak Chahar had left for his home just before the fifth match of the recently concluded T20 series against Australia, in which the news of one of his family members being seriously ill came to light. Now, in a statement given to PTI, a senior BCCI official said that Deepak has not yet joined the team in Durban because a close family member needed to be immediately admitted to the hospital. He had taken permission for the break as he needed to take care of his family member. He may or may not join the team in the coming days depending on the health of his family member.

While Suryakumar Yadav will be seen handling the captaincy of Team India for the three-match T20 series, Ravindra Jadeja has been given the responsibility of vice-captain. Apart from this, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup to be held next year, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav have also been seen returning to the team for this format. While India has to play the first match of this T20 series on 10th December, the second match will be played on 12th and the third on 14th December. After this, a three-match ODI series will also be played between the two teams.
