Rohit Sharma’s captaincy journey in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ended on 15 December 2023. Keeping the future in mind, Mumbai Indians have appointed all-rounder player Hardik Pandya as the new captain of the team for the next season. Rohit has had a very good record as captain in IPL. When Rohit took over the responsibility of captaining Mumbai Indians for the first time in the middle of the season in 2013, the team was successful in winning its first trophy in the same season. In such a situation, Rohit as captain has made such records in IPL, breaking which will not be an easy task even for Hardik Pandya.

Captained the team in the least number of matches and gave it its first trophy.

In the history of IPL, Rohit Sharma made Mumbai Indians the winner in his 13th match as captain. No player has been able to break this record till now. The names of Hardik Pandya and Shane Warne come second in this list, in which both of them led the team to the title in their 15th match as captain. After this, Rohit won his second IPL trophy as captain for Mumbai Indians while playing in the 44th match. In this matter, Rohit had broken the record of Dhoni, who had won the second IPL trophy as captain in his 59th match. After this, Rohit won the third IPL trophy as captain in the 75th match, whereas when Dhoni won the third IPL trophy, he played his 159th match as captain.

No one is close to Rohit even in terms of winning the fourth and fifth IPL trophy.

Rohit Sharma is counted among the most successful captains of IPL and the biggest reason for this is that under his leadership, Mumbai Indians won the title 5 times. In this, Rohit had won the trophy for the fourth time as captain in his 104th match, whereas for the fifth time when Mumbai Indians became the winner, it was Rohit’s 116th match as captain. Rohit has captained Mumbai Indians in 158 matches in IPL, out of which the team has won 87 matches.
