KL Rahul: The Indian team had to face defeat by 6 wickets against Australia in the final of ODI World Cup 2023. India had made it to the finals by winning 10 consecutive matches, but due to poor play in the finals the team had to face defeat. This was the second final match in the ODI World Cup between India and Australia. Earlier in 2003 also, India had to face defeat against Australia. Even after losing the final match, India’s wicketkeeper KL Rahul has done a great job.

Rahul scored so many runs

KL Rahul made a comeback in Asia Cup 2023 after injury and scored a brilliant century in the match against Pakistan. After this, he continued the same form in the ODI World Cup 2023 and led Team India to win the group-stage match against Australia. After this, Rahul scored a century against Netherlands. He scored 452 runs in 11 matches of the current World Cup. He has become the Indian wicketkeeper who has scored the most runs in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.

Did wonders in wicketkeeping

KL Rahul also took the responsibility of wicketkeeping in the ODI World Cup 2023. He made 17 dismissals during this period. He has become the Indian wicketkeeper with the most dismissals in a single edition of the ODI World Cup. Before him, this record was in the name of current coach Rahul Dravid. Dravid had 16 dismissals during the ODI World Cup 2003. Whereas Mahendra Singh Dhoni had made 15 dismissals in the ODI World Cup 2015. In such a situation, KL Rahul has now achieved a feat which even Dhoni could not do.

Wicketkeeper with most dismissals in a single edition of ODI World Cup:

Adam Gilchrist – 21 dismissals in 2003

Tom Latham – 21 dismissals in 2019
Alex Carey – 20 Dismissals in 2019
Quinton de Kock – 20 dismissals in 2023
KL Rahul – 17 dismissals in 2023

Scored a half century in the final

Batting first against Australia, the Indian team scored 240 runs. Team India started with a bang and scored 80 runs in the first 10 overs. But after this the Indian batting disintegrated. KL Rahul scored 66 runs in 107 balls at the crucial time. But Rahul could not convert his good start into a big innings.
