So many players did not play the current season of Ranji Trophy
According to the Indian Express report, out of the 165 Indian players playing in IPL 2024, 56 have not played a single match for their states in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season. Whereas there were 25 players who had played only one match. It includes famous players of the Indian team. BCCI is struggling to curb players who do not play domestic cricket.
Brigadier Anil Gupta, who heads the Jammu and Kashmir state unit, said that this is a matter of concern. Forget fast bowlers, because they get injured. Even batsmen with IPL contracts do not want to play in Ranji Trophy. We have requested BCCI to conduct IPL auction after Ranji Trophy.
Doesn’t play Ranji Trophy due to injury
BCCI has not yet been able to take any strict decision to play in Ranji Trophy or there is no concrete rule that players have to play in Ranji Trophy. Most players do not play in Ranji Trophy matches to avoid injuries. So that he can remain fit for the four hours of IPL. Whereas players get less money for playing Ranji Trophy as compared to IPL. The lowest base price of any player in IPL is Rs 20 lakh. Whereas players get at least 40 thousand rupees for playing a Ranji Trophy match.
Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya have not given any reason to play in Ranji Trophy when they are available they have contacted the coach or association president but they have not played Ranji for some time. Krunal has played limited overs cricket for Baroda this season. Whereas Hardik Pandya is still recovering from injury. Apart from the Pandya brothers, Rasikh Salam Dar and Yudhvir Singh Charak have also not been able to play in the Ranji Trophy season.
