Mumbai Indians IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians team has won the IPL trophy five times. Even before IPL 2024, Mumbai team has appointed Hardik Pandya as the captain in place of Rohit Sharma. IPL 2024 is starting from 22nd March. Mumbai Indians team will play its first match against Gujarat Titans on March 24. But now a bad news has come for Mumbai Indians. A star player of the team may remain out of the first two matches of IPL.
Suryakumar Yadav may remain out
India’s top T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after ankle surgery, but his availability for Mumbai Indians’ first two matches of the upcoming IPL season is in doubt. Surya is at number one in the ICC T20 rankings. He is working hard to make a comeback.
A BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity that Suryakumar Yadav’s rehabilitation is on track and he will definitely make a comeback in the upcoming season of IPL. However, it is still not clear whether the NCA’s ‘Sports Science and Medical Team’ will give clearance to play in the first two matches against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad (March 27). If we look at Suryakumar’s Instagram handle, he has shared some videos doing exercises related to strength and conditioning. The source said that there are still 12 days left for Mumbai Indians’ opening match, but he has less time to get fit before then.
Scored so many runs in T20I
Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most important batsmen of Mumbai. He has 2,141 runs in 60 T20I matches with four centuries and a strike rate of over 171. India’s title chances in the T20 World Cup starting in June in America and West Indies will largely depend on how Suryakumar Yadav plays. Suryakumar is also very important for Mumbai’s successful campaign in IPL. Suryakumar played his last match for the national team in South Africa.
