India has performed brilliantly in athletics in the last few years. This is the reason why Indian athletes are winning many medals on international platforms. India has increased the number of medals in almost every tournament, but in the meantime, an athlete suddenly failed a dope test, due to which two gold medals can be snatched from India. Recently, India had performed brilliantly in the Hangzhou Asian Para Games, where Indian para athlete Neeraj Yadav won two gold medals. But Neeraj could not pass the dope test conducted by NADA.

When was the test done?

A dope test conducted by NADA a few days before a continental tournament revealed that Neeraj Yadav had tested positive for anabolic steroids in a test conducted on the sidelines of the tournament in Bengaluru six days before leaving for Hangzhou. If the NADA panel finds him guilty of doping, he will have to lose both the gold medals won in the F55 javelin throw and discus throw events. Due to which India will slip from fifth place to sixth place in the medal table. Whereas Indonesia will reach fifth place.

India may suffer big loss

In the Asian Para Games, India had won 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze medals while Indonesia had 29 gold, 30 silver and 36 bronze medals. With Yadav losing two gold medals, India’s gold medal count will reduce to 27. Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) athletics chief coach S Satyanarayana told PTI from Bengaluru that we have written to NADA that this sample may not be theirs. Or the sample may be tampered with. We came to know about the doping violation on November 13 and they have seven days to present their case. Therefore, his case will be heard on November 21.

Neeraj did not say anything

Neeraj Yadav did not give any statement regarding this matter. Satyanarayana admitted that if Yadav was found guilty by the NADA panel, India would lose the two gold medals he had won. He said that we are saying that his samples were tampered or it was not his because we had tested him twice in Hangzhou and we have not yet heard about doping positive in the Asian Para Games samples.
