Shaheen was not given rest because of T20 cricket
After the end of the Sydney Test match against Australia, Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez, while responding to the decision of not playing Shaheen Afridi in this match in the press conference, said that we did not give him rest because of T20 cricket. Due to bowling a lot in the first two matches, his body was not feeling well and we decided not to play him keeping in mind his workload. Being the team director, it is also my responsibility to ensure that no player reaches a situation where the risk of injury can increase. For this reason, we wanted to give him a chance to recover before that. Since coming back from injury, he has played in almost every match in the last one year, so we have to manage his workload as well. I don’t know what happened earlier but now I already want to ensure that no player’s career gets spoiled due to injury.
Pakistan now has to play T20 series in New Zealand
Under the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan team has to play a 5-match T20 series on the tour of New Zealand from January 12. Keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2024, this series is going to be very important for them, in which 2 new players have also been included, apart from this, the team has also seen the return of some players including Azam Khan. It will be played in Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin and Christchurch.
