Pakistan vs New Zealand T20 Series: The Pakistani team defeated the New Zealand team by 42 runs in the last match of the five-match T20 series. In this match, Pakistani captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first. The Pakistani team gave a target of 135 runs to New Zealand to win, in response to which the New Zealand team was all out for only 92 runs and could not even play the full 20 overs. The batsmen from New Zealand could not perform well. For this reason the Kiwi team had to face defeat.
Shaheen Afridi saved from this shameful record
After the ODI World Cup 2023, Babar Azam left the captaincy of all three formats of Pakistan. After him, Shaheen Afridi was made the captain of the T20 team. The series against New Zealand is Shaheen’s first series as captain. But the Pakistani team had to face defeat in the first four matches of the series. Now, if the Pakistani team had lost even the last T20 match, Shaheen would have become the first Pakistani captain to lose a T20 series by 5-0, but now he has escaped this shameful record. Pakistani team has saved their honor by defeating New Zealand in the last T20 match.
Mohammad Rizwan scored the most runs
The Pakistani team had a very bad start when they came out to bat first. When Hasibullah Khan returned to the pavilion without opening the account. He was playing his first T20I match. After Hasibullah, Babar Azam was also out after scoring 13 runs. Then Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman tried to stay on the wicket for some time. Fakhar hit many brilliant shots. He was out on the bowling of Tim Southee after scoring 33 runs in 16 balls. He had hit four sixes. Mohammad Rizwan contributed 38 runs. Shahibzada Farhan scored 19 runs. Bowlers performed strongly
In the fifth T20 match against New Zealand, Pakistani bowlers performed strongly and did not allow New Zealand batsmen to hit big strokes. Iftikhar Ahmed took maximum three wickets for Pakistan. He took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. He was given the Player of the Match award for his good performance. Apart from this, Mohammad Nawaz and captain Shaheen Afridi took 2-2 wickets. Usama Mir also bowled excellently and proved to be quite economical.
Glenn Phillips scored the highest 26 runs for New Zealand. Apart from him, no other player could stay on the wicket. Finn Allen contributed 22 runs. Due to poor performance of the batsmen, New Zealand team was all out for 92 runs.
