Ranji Trophy 2024: Mumbai in a strong position due to Shardul’s century, Madhya Pradesh also took lead in the first innings – India TV Hindi

The play on the second day of both the semi-final matches of Ranji Trophy 2024 was very exciting. While the Mumbai team had once lost 7 wickets in its first innings against Tamil Nadu till the score of 106, then on the strength of Shardul Thakur’s century, the team lost 9 wickets at the end of the day’s play. After scoring 353 runs, a huge lead of 207 runs was achieved on the basis of first innings. On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh team also got a brilliant performance with the bat in the second day’s play in which the team was limited to 252 runs in its first innings and managed to take a lead of 82 runs.

Shardul scored his first century in first class cricket

The Mumbai team had lost the wickets of important players in the form of captain Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer in the very first session of the second day’s play against Tamil Nadu. Due to which Tamil Nadu team was seen making a comeback in this match. Mumbai’s innings, which had lost 7 wickets at the score of 106 runs, was handled by Shardul Thakur in which he first made a brilliant partnership of 105 runs for the eighth wicket with Hardik Tamore and then added 79 runs for the 9th wicket with Tanush Kotian. Due to which the Mumbai team not only made a comeback in this match but also managed to take a big lead on the basis of first innings. Shardul Thakur returned to the pavilion after completing his first century in first class cricket, scoring 109 runs in 104 balls. At the end of the day’s play, Mumbai’s score was 353 runs at the loss of 9 wickets, Tanush Kotian was playing with 74 runs and Tushar Deshpande was playing with 17 runs. While bowling for Tamil Nadu, R Sai Kishore has so far taken 6 wickets.

Himanshu Mantri’s century gave lead to Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh managed to take a significant lead of 82 runs on the basis of first innings, thanks to the brilliant century innings of Himanshu Mantri in the second day of the semi-final match against Vidarbha. Himanshu controlled the team’s innings from one end and scored 126 runs facing 265 balls. Due to Himanshu’s innings, Madhya Pradesh was able to reach the score of 252 runs in its first innings. By the end of the day’s play, Vidarbha team had lost 1 wicket in its second innings till the score was 13.
