Vidarbha Cricket Team
Vidarbha defeated Madhya Pradesh by 62 runs in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy 2023-2024. In this match, Vidarbha captain Akshay Wadkar won the toss and decided to bat first. But Vidarbha team was all out for just 170 runs in the first innings. After this, Madhya Pradesh team scored 252 runs in the first innings. In this way, Madhya Pradesh got a lead of 82 runs in the first innings, but even then the team lost the semi-final match. Vidarbha team scored 402 runs in the second innings on the basis of Yash Rathore’s excellent innings. In this way, Madhya Pradesh got the target of 321 runs to win, in response to which Madhya Pradesh team was out for 258 runs.
Madhya Pradesh batsmen flopped
Madhya Pradesh batsmen could not perform well against Vidarbha in the second innings. Vidarbha bowlers bowled amazingly. Akshay Wakhare and Yash Thakur took three wickets each for Vidarbha. Apart from this, Aditya Thackeray and Aditya Sarwate took 2-2 wickets.
Madhya Pradesh had a very bad start in the second innings. When Himanshu Mantri returned to the pavilion after scoring only 8 runs. But after this Yash Dubey and Harsh Gawli took the responsibility of scoring runs. Yash scored 94 runs and Harsh scored 67 runs. But as soon as these two players were out, Madhya Pradesh’s batting disintegrated. Sagar Solanki scored 12 runs, Venkatesh Iyer scored 19 runs and Saransh Jain scored 25 runs. But these players could not lead the Madhya Pradesh team to victory.
Yash Rathod played an excellent innings
Vidarbha’s batsmen may not have performed well in the first innings but they showed strong performance in the second innings. For Vidarbha, Yash Rathod played a brilliant innings in the second innings and scored 141 runs. It was because of him that Vidarbha team was successful in winning the match. He was given the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his excellent performance. Apart from Yash, Dhruv Shorey contributed 40 runs, Aman Mokhande contributed 59 runs, Karun Nair contributed 38 runs and captain Akshar Wadkar contributed 77 runs. It was because of these players that Vidarbha team was able to score a big score of 402 runs.
Vidarbha made it to the finals for the third time
Vidarbha will face Mumbai in the final of Ranji Trophy 2023-2024. Mumbai team has defeated Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs in the semi-finals. This is the first time since 1971 that two teams from the same state are playing the final of Ranji Trophy. Vidarbha has made it to the finals twice before and won the title both times.
