IPL 2024 may start from the last week of March. IPL is the most watched cricket league in the world. Many star players have made their career by playing here. Many star players of Afghanistan also participate in IPL. But even before IPL 2024, the Afghanistan Cricket Board had dropped Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Haq Farooqui and Naveen ul Haq from the central contract and refused to give NOC. Due to this, a big question mark was raised on the playing of these players in IPL 2024. But now the Afghanistan Cricket Board has changed its decision.

Path cleared to play in IPL

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has revised the ban previously imposed on three national players Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Haq Farooqui and Naveen ul Haq after the players adopted a lenient stance and expressed their willingness to accept the central contract. The board said in a statement that the revised restrictions will now allow these players to participate in the franchise league considering their willingness to receive central contracts and work towards national duties and the interests of the ACB. With this, the way for all three players to play in the IPL has almost been cleared.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman was recently bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 auction. Whereas Naveen Ul Haq was retained by Lucknow Super Giants team. Fazalhaq Farooqui was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the decision of ACB, there is relief news for the teams of KKR, Lucknow Super Giant and Hyderabad.

ACB Chairman said this

The Afghanistan Cricket Board said in its statement that after examining the initial stance of the players and acknowledging the importance of their remaining in the national team, the appointment committee presented its final recommendations to the board. The board will strictly consider issuing limited NOCs to players. ACB President Mirwaiz Ashraf pointed to the valuable contribution of the players to Afghanistan and said the amendments have been made considering the importance of their presence in the team. The players will remain dedicated to the country and will continue to bring glory to Afghanistan.
