Mumbai Indians IPL 2024 Auction: Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful franchises of IPL. Mumbai has won the IPL trophy five times under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports that we do not have to see it (making Hardik the captain of Mumbai Indians) as right or wrong. He has taken this decision for the benefit of the team. We can say that Rohit’s contribution even in batting has reduced a bit. Earlier, Rohit used to contribute a lot in batting but in the last few years he has been at number nine or tenth. Last time they made it to the playoffs, but Mumbai Indians did not have the same enthusiasm that was seen earlier.
Gavaskar said that this could be because Rohit has been playing cricket continuously due to which he might be tired. He was continuously captaining the Indian team and then Mumbai Indians. Under the leadership of Hardik, Gujarat Titans won the title in its debut season in 2022, whereas this year the team was the runner-up. Cricketer turned commentator Gavaskar believes that Hardik has proved himself with the Gujarat team and his return to Mumbai Indians will add new thinking to the team.

Sunil Gavaskar said that Mumbai has taken this decision. Hardik Pandya is a young player in terms of captaincy. He has proved himself by taking Gujarat Titans to the finals twice and winning the title once. They have made him the captain with this thinking, because sometimes you need new thinking and he can add new thinking to the team. I feel that whatever decision has been taken, Mumbai Indians will benefit and not suffer.
