India vs Afghanistan T20 Series: A series of three T20 matches will be played between India and Afghanistan. This series is very important in terms of preparations before the T20 World Cup 2024. This is India’s last T20 International series before the T20 World Cup. In such a situation, three players have the last chance to strengthen their claim for the T20 World Cup 2024. These players will have to perform well in the series against Afghanistan. Only then will the claims of these players be strengthened. The first match of the series between India and Afghanistan will be played on the grounds of Mohali from January 11.
1. Sanju Samson
The selectors took a surprising decision by including Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma as wicketkeepers for the series against Afghanistan. For the Afghan series, the selectors have shown the way out to wicketkeepers like KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Now Sanju will have to show a strong performance in the T20 series against Afghanistan, so that he can be a strong contender for a place in the T20 World Cup 2024. He had scored a stormy century in the ODI series against South Africa, for which he has now got the reward. Sanju has scored 510 runs in 16 T20 matches for the Indian team.
2. Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh performed amazingly while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023. He also hit five consecutive sixes in an over off Yash Dayal against Gujarat Titans, making him an overnight star. He made his debut for Team India in August 2023. After this, he has scored 262 runs in 12 T20 matches so far. He has emerged as a finisher for Team India. If he wants to make a place in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, he will have to score runs in the series against Afghanistan.
3. Washington Beautiful
The selectors have not selected Ravindra Jadeja for the T20 series against Afghanistan. Whereas Hardik Pandya was not available for selection due to being unfit. For this reason, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar have got a chance in the series. Sundar was never able to cement his place in Team India. Sometimes due to poor performance and sometimes due to injury, he kept being out of the team. Now he will have to prove his worth in the last T20 series before the T20 World Cup. He has taken 31 wickets in 40 T20 matches for the Indian team so far. Apart from this, he has also taken 107 wickets.
