Injuries of players in cricket have become quite common these days. Players are playing so much cricket all over the world due to which they are facing a lot of problems. Many players stay away from professional cricket for years due to injuries. Something similar has happened with a star player. This player is none other than Kyle Jamieson of New Zealand. The same Kyle Jamieson who defeated Team India by bowling brilliantly in the final of WTC 2021.

Will stay away from cricket for a year

Kyle Jamieson has suffered another major blow after scans revealed a new stress fracture in his back which looks set to keep him out of action for at least another year. The new injury is on the same part of the back where surgery was done last year. However, this time he will not need to undergo operation. Jamieson said in a statement, “The last few days have been the most challenging for me but I am extremely grateful for the support I have received from my teammates, family, teammates, support staff and medical team. I know that as a cricketer Injuries are a part of life and at this age I hope I still have many more days left to play.”

Old relation with injury

The 29-year-old has endured a disappointing last few years due to back problems. After being injured in June 2022, he returned at home against England last February. However, just before his return he suffered an injury that required surgery and ruled him out for a few months. Even though he made a successful comeback in all three formats after recovery, due to the new injury he will not be able to take the field again in 2024.

New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said that we have all seen how hard Kyle has worked to return to international cricket and it is difficult news for him to get such a blow. On the positive side, we know how determined he is to continue playing cricket for New Zealand and we will be with him throughout his road to recovery. His determination has not diminished.
