This player may suffer loss in central contract

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf, who refused to play in the three-match Test series in Australia next month, could be dropped to a lower grade in the central contract and could also be refused permission to play in the Big Bash League. Rauf is among the six players who have been given B grade contracts by the Pakistan Cricket Board with a monthly salary of more than PKR 40 lakh. Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi are in the top A grade.

Pakistan Cricket Board in mood for action

A reliable source told PTI that some top officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board are unhappy with Haris’s attitude. Recently, Pakistan’s new chief selector Wahab Riaz took Haris to task and said that I and Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez spoke to him in detail and told that both the captain and the coach want him to play in Australia. We also assured him that he would not have to bowl more than 10-12 overs in a day. He further said that we also talked to the team physio and trainer and they told that Hafeez does not have any fitness problem and he will not have any problem in Australia.

There may be a ban on playing in Big Bash League

A source said there is talk that if Haris’ focus is only on white-ball cricket, then the central contract given to him will be reviewed as he is in B grade and gets Rs 40 lakh per month, match fees, bonuses and ICC revenue. A trace of PCB is also found in it. He said that the players in the top two grades have to play all formats. If he does not play, his NOC to play Big Bash League can also be withheld.
