Afghanistan Cricket Team vs Indian Team
Afghanistan’s star player Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been ruled out of the Big Bash League and has returned home. He plays for Melbourne Renegades in BBL. He was also not available for selection in the match against Melbourne Stars. His team had to face defeat by 8 wickets in this match. Mujeeb is out of Big Bash League for a big reason.
Mujeeb out of BBL
Afghanistan Cricket Board had stopped the central contracts of Mujeeb ur Rehman, Fazal Farooqui and Naveen ul Haq. These players themselves had expressed their desire to get out of the central contract. Apart from not giving them a place in the central contract, the board also decided not to give No Objection Certificate (NOC) to these players for the next two years. Due to this, the possibility of these players playing in other leagues also ended. Due to lack of NOC, he had to be out of BBL.
Might get a chance in the series against India
However, even after the decision of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Mujeeb played two matches for Melbourne Renegades. After the ACB decision, Naveen Ul Haq and Fazal Haq Farooqui had expressed their desire to play for the country. For this reason he got a place in the T20 series against UAE. Mujeeb did not get a chance in this series. But he may get a chance for the series against India.
Afghanistan Cricket Board did not give NOC
The ICC had made it clear in April 2022 itself that NOC would be required for any player to play in a foreign league. It does not matter whether he has a contract with the board or not and it does not matter whether he has retired from the game. Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided not to give NOC to Mujeeb, Fazal and Naveen for 24 months. For this reason he is not eligible to play in foreign leagues. Mujeeb has taken 1 wicket in 1 Test, 101 wickets in 75 ODI matches and 56 wickets in 43 T20 International matches for Afghanistan.
