Working for the development of Lakshadweep – PM Modi

Addressing a rally in Agatti, Lakshadweep, PM Modi said – This part of the country is full of many possibilities, but after independence, not much attention was paid to its development for a long time. Despite shipping being the lifeline here, the port infrastructure here remained weak. The people here had to face a lot of problems in terms of health, education and even petrol and diesel. Our government is now addressing all these challenges. The government’s effort is to ensure that the poor have a house, toilet, and no one is deprived of facilities like electricity, gas etc.

PM said- Government of India is working with full commitment for the development of entire Lakshadweep including Agatti. Many development schemes have been completed here in the last 10 years. We have provided modern facilities to the fishermen. The fishermen here have now started exporting tuna fish, which has opened the way for increasing their income.
