After the Sports Ministry raised objection to the office of the Wrestling Federation, which was earlier located at the residence of former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the address of the office has now been changed. Along with suspending the wrestling association, the Sports Ministry had also raised many questions a few days ago, one of which was office related. Protests from many women wrestlers against the former president of the Wrestling Association were being seen continuously for quite some time. After this he was instructed to stay away from the work of the wrestling association. Even after the election of the new president, the work of the wrestling association was still going on from the house of former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Address changed after objection from Sports Ministry

The wrestling association has changed the address of its office after objection from the Sports Ministry. According to PTI news, a source said in a statement that after vacating Brij Bhushan’s house, WFI will work from a new address in New Delhi. The new office of WFI is in Harinagar, New Delhi. On December 24, the Sports Ministry had suspended the newly elected panel of WFI under the leadership of President Sanjay Singh, just three days after it was elected. The ministry had also cited WFI’s office running from Brij Bhushan’s residence as a reason for the suspension action. The ministry in its letter had said that the functioning of the federation is being conducted from the residence controlled by former president Brij Bhushan and it is the alleged premises in which the allegations of sexual harassment of players have been made and the matter is currently pending in the court.

Many female wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat have made allegations of sexual harassment

Several top wrestlers, including Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik and World Championship medalist Vinesh Phogat, have leveled allegations of sexual harassment against former wrestling association president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and the case is being heard in the Delhi High Court. On December 21, after Sanjay Singh, considered close to Brij Bhushan, was elected the new president of WFI, Sakshi Malik announced her retirement from wrestling, while Bajrang returned his Padma Shri.
