France team’s star football player Paul Pogba was sentenced to a four-year ban on February 29 after being found guilty in a doping case. Italy’s anti-doping agency had found Pogba positive in a doping test in September 2023, after which the French player will now have to face this ban because he could not prove himself innocent. Apart from playing for the French team, Pogba also plays as a midfielder for the football club Juventus. Pogba was found positive for testosterone while playing in the Italian league. After this, Italy’s National Doping Agency temporarily suspended him in September.

Pogba’s doping test found him to have high levels of endurance enhancing hormones. His first test was done in August 2023 and after this his sample was taken for the second time in October 2023 and that too was found positive. This ban on Pogba starts from when Pogba was found positive for the first time. Therefore the France international player has been banned till August 2027. Pogue is currently 31 years old and will be 34 years old when the ban ends, so it is not going to be an easy task for him to return to the football field again.
Couldn’t play last World Cup due to injury
Paul Pogba could not be a part of the France team in the FIFA World Cup held in 2022 due to injury. At the same time, due to knee surgery in the year 2023, he was seen playing in very few matches. After Pogba was given a free transfer from English club Manchester United in the year 2022, he became a part of Italian club Juventus. Pogba has played 91 international football matches so far and despite being a midfielder player, he also has 11 goals in his name.
