6 Pakistanis caught off the coast of Gujarat
Gujarat: 6 Pakistanis have been caught during the search operation off the coast of Gujarat. These 6 Pakistanis have been arrested in a joint operation of Gujarat ATS, Indian Coast Guard and NCB. During this period, drugs worth Rs 480 crore were seized from them. These captured Pakistanis will be brought to Porbandar. Coast Guard, ATS and NCB together have seized drugs worth Rs 3,135 crore so far.
According to the information, in a joint operation by Indian Coast Guard, NCB and ATS on the night of 11-12 March, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has intercepted a Pakistani boat based on intelligence information. There were 6 crew members on board. Narcotics worth approximately Rs 480 crore were seized from them. In a joint operation, the Pakistani boat was intercepted in the Arabian Sea, about 350 km from Porbandar. This boat could be caught due to good coordination between ICG, NCB and ATS Gujarat in the operation.
Action taken based on intelligence input
This action was carried out by formulating a strategy after specific intelligence inputs to the Indian security agencies. Under this, ships were deployed in the Arabian Sea. The ICG also tasked its Dornier aircraft to scan and locate the boat in potential areas. After a thorough search in the area, the ICG ship along with teams from NCB and ATS Gujarat reached the spot where the boat was moving suspiciously in the dark.
80 kg of drugs seized in investigation
The boat started evasive when challenged by the ICG ships. They were then tactically pursued by the ICG ships and forced to stop. The boarding team immediately boarded the ship for preliminary checks. When seen there, 6 crew members were present. During checking by the Joint Boarding Team, approximately 80 kg of drugs worth Rs 480 crore were seized.
Pakistanis are being brought to seized Porbandar
The boat along with its crew has been captured and is being brought to Porbandar for further investigation. This is the 10th arrest made by ICG jointly with ATS Gujarat and NCB in the last three years. In this, a total of 517 kg of narcotics worth Rs 3135 crore has been seized.
