Moscow: The mother of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny on Tuesday appealed to President Vladimir Putin to intervene in the matter and hand over her son’s body to him. Lyudmila Navalny appeared in a video in the Arctic region where Navalny died. She has been trying to recover her son’s body since Saturday.
What did mother say?
She said in the video, “Even on the fifth day, I have not been able to see my son’s body.” They are not even telling me where he is being kept.” In a video posted on social media by Navalny’s team, Navalnya said, ”Vladimir Putin, I appeal to you. Only you can resolve this matter. Let me see my son’s body. I demand that the body be given to me immediately, so that I can bury it with dignity.
According to members of his team, Russian officials have said that Navalny’s cause of death is still unknown and that the body may not be released for another two weeks as the preliminary investigation continues. (input: ap)
