Let us inform that India and Saudi Arabia discussed ways to strengthen bilateral defense and strategic cooperation including increasing joint military training exercises and technology transfer for defense industrial engagement. Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt and Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud held discussions in Riyadh on Tuesday. Bhatt also met Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Defense Minister Khalid Al-Bayari, with whom he discussed ways to further strengthen the long-standing multidimensional defense cooperation between the two countries.

The talks came amid growing global concerns over the situation in West Asia, particularly attacks on commercial cargo ships by Iran-backed Houthi militants. The Defense Ministry said the discussions focused on exploring avenues of cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including enhancing the scope of joint training exercises, technology transfer and exchange of expertise. Bhatt is leading the Indian delegation to the World Defense Show (WDS) 2024 in Riyadh. The five-day event began on February 4. (Language)
