The US Army has shot down more than a dozen drones and several missiles fired by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. This information has come from the Pentagon. However, the ship of Houthi rebels has not suffered any damage during this period. According to the information given by the Pentagon’s Central Command, during the 10-hour operation, 12 drones, 3 anti-ship ballistic missiles and two surface-to-surface missiles were shot down.

Attack on ships passing through the Red Sea

Earlier, Houthi rebels had launched missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea in support of Gaza. In support of Gaza, Houthi rebels have also targeted commercial ships, including one headed towards India’s Gujarat coast. Houthi rebels have started such actions after the Israel-Hamas war that started after October 7. Houthi rebels say they will target ships from any country that supports Israel to stop Israel’s offensive in Gaza.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden had ordered a retaliatory strike against Iran-backed militia groups after the attack on his troops in northern Iraq. American soldiers were seriously injured in the attack on Monday. The Iran-backed militia ‘Kata’ib Hezbollah’ and its affiliated groups claimed responsibility for the attack.

America blamed Iran

The latest attack on US troops follows increasing threats against US forces in the region following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7. America has blamed Iran for all this. Thousands of US troops are still present in Iraq, training Iraqi forces and fighting the terrorist organization Islamic State. Hundreds of American soldiers are also fighting the Islamic State group in Syria.
