Another ‘Bhutto’ entry in Pakistan’s politics

Pakistan News: Bhutto family has a significant influence in the politics of Pakistan. Father Asif Ali Zardari has become President for the second time. Asif Zardari’s son Bilawal Bhutto has also been the Foreign Minister in the previous Shahbaz government. Presently he is the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Bilawal’s mother Benazir Bhutto and maternal grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had also been Prime Ministers. Meanwhile, another member of the Bhutto family has entered Pakistan’s politics. This is Asifa Bhutto Zardari, daughter of Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the information, Asifa Ali Zardari is the younger daughter of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari. He has filed his candidature to contest the by-election on the National Assembly seat of Sindh province. He has filed nomination papers from the seat left by his father. Asifa is 31 years old and has been quite active in politics recently. However, before this his father Asif Zardari had kept him away from parliamentary politics till now.

Asifa filed nomination from Sindh province

Asifa on Sunday filed her nomination for the by-election from NA 207 constituency in Shaheed Benjirabad district of Sindh province. Actually Asif had won the election from here, but since he became the President, this seat was vacated. This is the reason that now his younger daughter Asifa has filed nomination papers for this seat. Asifa Ali Zardari’s appearance is very similar to her mother Benazir Bhutto. Benazir was killed in an attack on an election rally in Rawalpindi in 2007.

Asifa’s victory is almost certain

Zardari was accompanied by Asifa Bhutto Zardari, who was named First Lady, during the swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Islamabad. Actually, this status is given to the wife of the President, but Asif Ali Zardari is a widower since the death of his wife former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007. The by-election will be held on April 21. It is almost certain that Asifa will win in this.
