Big danger of H5N1 virus

Bird Flu in Antarctica: The world knows the gruesomeness of the Corona epidemic. This corona virus shook the world. Now these days, a disease caused by a virus in one of the continents of the Earth has alerted scientists. Many creatures living on this continent have died due to infection with this virus. There is deep concern among scientists about the possibility of death of living beings due to H5N1 virus. A king penguin has died due to H5N1 i.e. bird flu virus in South Georgia Island located in Antarctica area. If death from the virus is confirmed, it will be the first time that a king penguin has died due to bird flu. Scientists fear that it is breeding season for penguins. In such a situation, if bird flu spreads among penguins, it can have serious consequences and it can also become the biggest ecological disaster of modern times.

Scientists worried over the death of penguins

Till now, Antarctica, the world’s coldest continent, was the only region of the world where H5N1 bird flu virus had not been found before and bird flu virus infection had never been seen in king penguins before. This is why scientists are worried about the possibility of death of king penguin due to bird flu.

Many penguins have died in these countries

The penguin that died of possible bird flu is of the king species. It is considered to be the world’s largest species of penguins. Its length is 3 feet and life span is 20 years. Before the King Penguin, the Gentoo species of penguin had died due to the bird flu virus. In the past, more than half a million sea birds, including penguins, have died due to bird flu in South Africa, Chile and Argentina. It is clear that the risk of bird flu infection is high in penguins.

Penguins in danger of extinction on Earth due to bird flu infection

The risk of bird flu infection spreading among king penguins is so great that by the end of this century, king penguins are in danger of extinction from the earth and if bird flu spreads, this risk can increase greatly. Earlier, a polar bear in Antarctica had also died due to bird flu-1 H5N1 infection. It is noteworthy that before this, viruses like Corona, Marburg, Swine Flu, Ebola have also caused havoc in the world.
