Women of Indian origin celebrated Chhath festival in California.
Through Bihar, the fame of Chhath festival first spread to other states of India and now its Chhath festival has started spreading in foreign countries also. Hundreds of people of Indian origin celebrated Chhath festival with great pomp in California, America. A large number of women participated in it. Continuing a generations-old family tradition, hundreds of Indian-American techies gathered on the banks of a lake in the American city of Fremont to celebrate Chhath with friends and families. After this, worship was done with rituals. Everyone congratulated each other on the occasion of Chhath festival.
Chhath festival started on 17 November. During the festival, devotees observe fast and offer Arghya to the Sun God. Hundreds of Indian-Americans attended the gala in Fremont, California. A resident named Rakesh Singh said, “We are celebrating Chhath festival here. We started it in 2011 and at that time only a few people participated. Later, gradually people started joining it and after 2014 the number started increasing. Now you can see today’s view. About 1,200 people joined us last year.” This year, organizers in Fremont offered free tickets to enter the Chhath festival celebration. According to the organizers, all the free tickets were distributed within a few hours.
