Responding to the Supreme Court’s decision on Article 370, China on Tuesday said the Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue and consultation between India and Pakistan. On the Pakistani journalist’s question on this issue, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, ‘On the issue of Kashmir, China’s position is clear and unambiguous.’ He said, ‘This is a very old dispute between India and Pakistan and it should be resolved by peaceful means in accordance with the United Nations Charter, United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and relevant bilateral agreements.’ Mao said that the parties involved need to resolve the dispute through dialogue and consultation and establish peace and stability in the region.

Responding to this matter on Monday, Pakistan had said that the decision of the Supreme Court of India on Article 370 has ‘no legal significance’. Along with this, he also said that international law does not recognize India’s ‘unilateral and illegal actions’ of August 5, 2019.
