The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck western Japan reached 100 on Saturday. Death toll increased in Japan

According to officials, more than 500 people have been injured in the earthquake, of which at least 27 are seriously injured. The Earthquake Research Institute of the University of Tokyo found that in some places in western Japan, sandy beaches shifted seaward by up to 250 meters (820 ft).
