General elections in Pakistan after three days

Pakistan News: General elections are to be held in Pakistan on 8th February. But before the elections, a big news related to the elections is coming from the troubled Balochistan. According to the information, it is difficult to conduct elections in Pakistan in a fair and smooth manner. In such a situation, the figures coming out from the troubled Balochistan are surprising. 80 percent of polling stations in restive Balochistan are highly sensitive. Out of total 5,028 polling stations in Balochistan, only 961 i.e. about 19 percent are normal.

Balochistan Home Minister Zubair Jamali expressed serious concerns about possible security challenges during the elections in the province. He said security would be very tight on the polling day in view of attempts to attack security forces, establishments, government employees and civilians in Balochistan. At the same time, he said that there are a total of 5,028 polling stations in Balochistan. Of these, only 961 have been designated as general. Apart from this, 2,337 polling stations have been declared ‘sensitive’ and 1,730 as highly sensitive.

Deployment of security forces will be increased at polling stations

The provincial government has already banned political rallies and street meetings in the wake of incidents of election-related violence. Jamali said deployment of security forces would be increased at polling stations, especially in sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas. There has been an increase in terrorist incidents in Balochistan since last year.

Internet services will remain closed

Balochistan’s acting Information Minister Jan Achakzai had announced on Sunday that internet services would be temporarily suspended in areas where polling stations have been marked sensitive. He had said that terrorists and mischievous elements can use social media platforms to incite violence and spread rumours. Therefore, to avoid such threats, internet access will be restricted in various areas including Turbat, Machh and Chaman.
