Natural gas pipeline damaged in Iran
Iran News: A natural gas pipeline was damaged by explosions in Iran early Wednesday morning. An official has termed these blasts as ‘harmful and terrorist acts’ in the country. The situation in the Middle East remains tense amid Israel’s war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. A natural gas pipeline running from Iran’s western Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces to the Caspian Sea cities in the north has been affected by the explosion. However, not much information was shared about this.
The approximately 1,270 kilometer long pipeline starts from Asaluyeh, Iran’s South Pars gas field hub. Saeed Aghali, manager of Iran’s gas network control center, told Iranian state television that a ‘harmful and terrorist’ act caused the explosions in several areas along the pipeline.
The name of any group has not been revealed yet
Aghali did not name any suspects or groups for the blasts. Arab separatists have in the past claimed responsibility for attacks on oil pipelines in southwestern Iran. However, such attacks against infrastructure such as pipelines are extremely rare.
