The proposed summit meeting today in San Francisco between US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping is being considered important in terms of India-US strategic partnership. This meeting is taking place at a time when the relations between India and America are in a new phase of deepening of strong ties. But meanwhile, the increasing closeness between America and China has also worried the India-America Strategic Partnership Forum. The forum is keeping a close eye on the results coming after the meeting between Biden and Xi Jinping. The head of a top India-focused business and strategy group said major global players like India will be watching the outcome very closely.

Mukesh Aghi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the US-India Strategic and Cooperation Forum (USISPF) told PTI that it is important to start a dialogue between the world’s two largest economies, America and China. The much-awaited summit between Biden and Xi will take place on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which the US is hosting in San Francisco from November 11 to 17. “I think this summit is important not only from President Biden’s perspective, but also from President Xi’s perspective,” Aghi said.

China’s economy is going through crisis

China’s economy is going through a crisis. There are some issues in its development journey, there is unemployment.” He said, “Elections are about to be held in America and two wars are also going on – one in West Asia and one in Ukraine. Therefore, it needs a China that is stable, it needs a China that is cooperative. Will this happen? “We don’t know, but I think it’s important that dialogue is starting between the two countries.” “Now from India’s perspective, I think two weak leaders are coming together,” Aghi said. At the same time, you have Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is a strong leader at this time. So, I think India will keep a close eye on this because it has implications for India’s position geopolitically or in the Indo-Pacific region. We wish everyone the best results at the same time. India will keep an eye on this very seriously.” Aghi stressed that India-US relations are “very strong”, dynamic and moving in the right direction. (Language)
