Islamabad: Jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan may have been cursing America till now, but in an important matter, Imran has had to humbly make a new demand from this country. Khan, who became prime minister in August 2018, was removed through a no-confidence vote in April 2022. Currently, he is lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, facing punishment in multiple cases.
Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has alleged that the February 8 general elections were “not conducted fairly” and “the election results were rigged.” None of the three parties, including PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), have got the required number of seats to gain majority in the National Assembly in the general elections held on February 8. Therefore, none of these parties is capable of forming a government alone.
Imran’s candidates have won more than 100 seats
More than 100 independent candidates supported by Imran Khan’s party ‘PTI’ won. But the party has alleged that the elections were “rigged”. PTI leader Asad Qaiser told media persons after a meeting of party leaders at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail that the party has nominated Omar Ayub Khan as its prime ministerial candidate. “Khan has sent a message that America should raise its voice against alleged rigging in elections,” Kaiser said.
