Once again, India was re-elected to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council in the voting held on Friday with the highest number of votes for the 2024-25 biennium session. This is the result of the world’s unwavering trust in India and the charismatic leadership of PM Modi.

India’s re-election to the IMO comes in the category of 10 countries with “most interest in international maritime trade” along with Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). . Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami said it reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing India’s diverse contribution to global maritime operations.

India expressed gratitude for the trust

Immediately after the election, Doraiswami said, “We are pleased and overwhelmed by the support of the international community at the International Maritime Organization for India’s continued service in the global maritime domain.” He said, “Today in London, Category ‘B’ We were re-elected with the highest number of votes in the elections to the IMO Council in 2017, thereby maintaining a proud and unbroken record of India’s continuous service to the IMO. This fully reflects the high priority given by our Government, especially in recent years, to the rapid expansion and development of our domestic shipping sector and enhancing India’s diverse contribution to global maritime operations.” 33rd IMO The gathering is being held at the IMO headquarters in London between 27 November and 6 December.
