Russia Ukraine War and India: It has been 2 years since the war between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile, India has raised questions on the usefulness of UNSC. India has clearly said that it has been two years of war between the two countries. What did the UN do to resolve the issue in these two years? India bluntly said that the UN was completely ineffective in stopping the war. India has asked the question to the UN that why was the UN ineffective?

According to the information received, India stressed the need to reform the old structures to make multilateralism effective and questioned why the United Nations Security Council has been ‘completely ineffective’ in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict that has been going on for two years. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj asked this question in the plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the completion of two years of the Ukraine war that started on February 24, 2022.

‘No era of war’, India reiterated PM Modi’s statement

Ruchira Kamboj also mentioned that quote of PM Modi. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that this is not an “era of war”. Modi said this during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand in September 2022.

What did Kamboj say while presenting India’s side?

Kamboj, while presenting India’s side, said that the struggle is continuing even after completion of two years. In such a situation, UN members should pause and ask themselves two important questions. He said, “Are we close to any possible, acceptable solution? If not, why is it that the United Nations system, particularly its principal organ—the United Nations Security Council—is entrusted with the task of maintaining international peace and security?

‘India is constantly concerned about the situation in Ukraine’

Kamboj said in the General Assembly that India is constantly concerned about the situation in Ukraine. He said, ‘We have consistently taken the stand that no solution can ever come at the cost of human life. Escalation of hostilities and violence is not in anyone’s interest.” He said India has insisted from the beginning that all efforts should be made for an early end to hostilities and an immediate return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy.

India has also raised questions on the existence of UN

India has always talked about peace amid the war between Russia and Ukraine. PM Modi met Putin and Zelensky over the course of two years and said the same things to both the heads of state. Not only this, India has always been questioning the usefulness of the UN in the present times. The UN has failed to take any decision on Russia Ukraine war, Israel Hamas war, China’s bullying in South China, situation in Afghanistan and many such issues.
