India’s strategic partner and close friend France has overruled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision on the student visa cap issue. Just a day before, Canada had reduced the number of all foreign students by imposing a student visa cap. Canada had cited limited facilities including lack of accommodation and hostels for this. Indian students were expected to be most affected by this decision of Canada. Because Indian students are many times more than the total foreign students in Canada. But just a day after Canada’s decision, France has deflated Justin Trudeau’s decision by rolling out the red carpet for Indian students.

President Emmanuel Macron has opened the doors of France for 30 thousand Indian students. The French President, who came to India on the occasion of the country’s 75th Republic Day, wrote in his X Media post that France will welcome 30,000 Indian students by the year 2030. Macron also gave details of his ‘ambitious’ plan for Indian students. Let us tell you that Emmanuel Macron has detailed an ambitious plan to welcome 30,000 Indian students to France by the year 2030. In a major effort to boost academic ties between the two countries, France is aiming to welcome 30,000 Indian students to its universities by 2030, President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday. In a post on X during his visit to India, he wrote that the plan is part of an “ambitious” effort to strengthen France’s ties with India. Let us tell you that France is called a “major partner” in the Indo-Pacific region. The President had described India as his key partner after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France in July 2023. “We are opening new paths to learning French in public schools with the ‘French for all, French for a better future’ initiative,” Macron said.

France will further simplify the visa process for Indian students

Along with announcing this, Macron said that France will further simplify its visa process for Indian students. “We are developing the network of Alliance Francaise with new centers to learn French. We are creating international classrooms that will allow students who do not necessarily speak French to attend our universities,” he said. The French President also highlighted that the visa process for former Indian students studying in France will be streamlined, making it easier for them to return. The announcement comes as France aims to attract 20,000 Indian students by 2025, setting the stage for a larger target of 30,000 by 2030.
