Karachi: A Pakistani court has criticized the Home Ministry for failing to deport an alleged Indian national arrested 11 years ago despite court orders, and warned that the secretary concerned will be called to explain that his department deals with such cases. How am I doing? A single bench of Justice Mohammad Karim Khan Aga of the Sindh High Court on Friday asked the Home Ministry to appoint an officer well-versed with the facts of the case or file a compliance report during the next hearing, ‘Dawn’ newspaper reported on Saturday. Instructed.

Mobina Town police station had arrested a man named Abdul Mughani near Abul Hasan Ispahani Road in 2013 and booked him under various provisions of the Foreigners Act. A sessions court had sentenced him to six months in jail in 2017. The accused had filed an appeal before the Sindh High Court against his sentence. The report said that during the hearing, the court said that the appellant is an Indian citizen, while the Home Ministry could not confirm his nationality due to lack of efforts.

The court said this

The bench said that since the appellant has served his sentence, the Jail Superintendent was directed to make arrangements for his deportation back to his country through the Home Department. On Friday, a section official of the ministry said his deportation did not take place due to some procedural issues. Justice Aga, in his order, said: “I find it quite extraordinary that even after a lapse of seven years, the Home Ministry has not been able to confirm whether the appellant is an Indian citizen or not. Prima facie the reason for this is the lack of efforts on the part of the Home Ministry.” (Language)
