Pakistan Police dug up the graves of its own people, Ahmadi community enraged by removal of stones from 80 coffins – India TV Hindi

Lahore. Pakistan Police has got itself into trouble by digging the graves of its own people. There has been an uproar over the digging of graves of 80 Muslims in Pakistan’s Punjab province. It is being said that under pressure from religious extremists in Punjab province, the police allegedly destroyed the stones of 80 graves of the minority Ahmadi community. Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya Pakistan made this claim on Friday. This has caused tremendous anger in the entire community. The incident took place in Daska, about 100 kilometers from the provincial capital Lahore.

According to Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya Pakistan, police, under pressure from religious extremists, desecrated at least 80 graves in two different cemeteries of the Ahmadi community in Daska. “Police destroyed the stones of Ahmadi graves despite the fact that the cemetery land was allotted to the Ahmadi community by the Punjab government,” it said in a statement on Friday. The statement claimed that Assistant Commissioner Daska , Anwar Ali Kanju had issued an illegal order to demolish Ahmadi tombstones.

Allegation of oppression of Ahmadi communities

Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya Pakistan’s statement said “Anwar Ali Kanju has been involved in the persecution of the Ahmadi community for a long time. The state needs to understand how officers like Kanju tarnish Pakistan’s reputation globally.” Videos circulated on social media showed policemen breaking tombstones with hammers in their hands. Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya Pakistan said, “This is a condemnable and horrific incident which can never be justified. It is now time for the state to clarify what its policy is on the desecration of Ahmadi cemeteries. The government should clarify under which law the police and local administration are desecrating the graves of the Ahmadi community. (Language)
