Islamabad: The family of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has got the biggest relief from the court. The anti-corruption court on Thursday canceled the permanent arrest warrant against the two sons of the former Prime Minister. Earlier during the elections, Nawaz had also got relief in many cases. Before the elections, Nawaz Sharif was considered the strongest contender for the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. But the army’s choice was his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif. That’s why his card was cut. However, with younger brother Shahbaz becoming PM, Nawaz’s family has got a big relief in this 8 year old case.

It is being told that Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz had left the country in 2018 after being named in the Panama Papers scam of 2016. He was charged in three corruption cases related to the Panama Papers, but never appeared before court. The court had declared him a fugitive. The brothers returned to Pakistan on Tuesday after Islamabad’s anti-corruption court suspended the permanent arrest warrant against them on March 7 till Thursday.

Also granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000

With the suspension of the arrest warrant for Nawaz’s sons, the last hurdle to their safe return to the country was also removed. On Thursday, Hasan and Hussain appeared before the Islamabad-based accountability court, which after hearing arguments canceled the permanent arrest warrants issued in the Flagship, Al-Azizia and Avenfield corruption cases. The court also approved his bail on a bond of Rs 50,000. (Language)
