Several coaches overturned after a massive collision between two trains in Indonesia, 3 people died

There was a massive collision between two trains on Friday in Java, the main island of Indonesia. Due to this many boxes were overturned. At least 3 people died in this accident. The officers provided this information. Many people have been injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. The death toll is expected to increase. National Railways PT Kereta AP Indonesia spokesman Ayep Hanapi said the accident occurred about 500 meters from Kikalengka station in Bandung city, West Java. He said that a train going from Surabaya to Bandung, the capital of East Java province, hit a passenger train going from Kikalengka station to Padalarang.

West Java police spokesman Ibrahim Tompo said that at least three people died and several others were injured in the accident. Several coaches were seen overturned or badly damaged in the video and ambulances were seen carrying away the injured. A box was seen fallen in a nearby field. The cause of the accident is still being investigated. Train accidents are common in Indonesia. The Turangga Express train was traveling from Surabaya, the capital of East Java province, carrying 287 passengers. At about 6:30 am, the train collided with the Bandung Raya commuter train heading from Ciklengka station towards Padalarang, which was carrying 191 passengers.

Most passengers evacuated safely

“All passengers of both the crashed trains have been evacuated safely,” Hanapi said, adding that 28 people were being treated in hospital for minor and serious injuries. West Java police spokesman Ibrahim Tompo said at least three people were killed. This includes the driver and his assistant of the commuter train and a manager of the express train. He said rescue workers have recovered the body of the manager and they are still trying to rescue the bodies of the driver and assistant trapped in the train engine. Transport Ministry spokeswoman Adita Irawati apologized for the accident and the disruption to railway services in the West Java region. He said the cause of the accident was being investigated and rescue workers had evacuated all the passengers. Railways are working to remove trains to restore services.
