The arrest of Hamid’s brother is being seen as a retaliatory action by the new government of Pakistan. A spokesperson of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACE) said, ‘Revenue officer Najaf Hamid, brother of former ISI chief Faiz Hamid, was arrested from Chakwal on Monday on charges of corruption and abuse of power.’ The spokesperson said that the suspect will be produced before a magistrate to be taken on remand. Hamid is a resident of Chakwal and his arrest is being described as action by the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) against those responsible for ousting Nawaz Sharif from power in 2017. Let us tell you that Faiz Hamid was the Director General of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI from 16 June 2019 to 19 November 2021.
