Bus accident in Mali, 31 people died

Mali’s Transport Ministry has informed through a Facebook post that on Tuesday, a passenger bus fell from a bridge over a river near the western city of Keniba in Mali, killing at least 31 people on board. The ministry said the bus, which was heading to Burkina Faso, was crossing the bridge at around 5pm on Tuesday when the accident occurred. The bus was carrying many Malian and West African sub-region citizens. “The probable cause was the driver’s failure to control the vehicle,” it said.

A driver lost control of a passenger bus in southern Mali on Tuesday, killing at least 31 people and injuring 10 others, the country’s government announced. A statement posted on the Facebook page of Mali’s transport ministry said the bus was carrying Malians and civilians from the West African sub-region to Burkina Faso when it overturned, killing 31 people and injuring 10 others. Some of them are in critical condition.

The accident occurred at around 5 pm local time, the ministry said in a statement. When the bus was going to the bridge crossing the Bago river. The bus was coming from the south-western Malian city of Keniba and the bus driver lost control leading to the accident.
